Fitness Must haves 2026
‘Tis the season for amazing deals on… Amazon? For some of the basics, and in the name of logistics, I have nudged some of our members towards this dot-com for their exercise gear. But, maybe you have your bells, (and if you don’t, we do), and supportive garments for exercise — and now you are looking to be a part of a positive community and want to invest in simple information and techniques that you can use at the gym and home. Perhaps, a 5 class pass or a small group session may be the best investment you make all year. But for the other stuffs-of-strength, check out our online store for our newest fitness and lifestyle must have items of 2026.
Fitness Must Haves 2026: Amazon vs. Barres and Bells
Hydration — with my Nalgene as my vessel, two hydrogens and one oxygen at a time, drinking more water is my New Year’s resolution. So, raise a glass, flask or bottle and join me in hydrating just a little bit more than the year before. For Christmas, Teddy got a miniature matching water bottle like his mom’s, and it was his favourite thing to play with all holiday break. When choosing a water bottle, we prioritize spill proof with a screw top lid — move over Stanley. We love our Kinto brand canteens for coffee in the studio and while on the go. For a new water bottle, visit The Nut downtown or Planet Patch online, where Zam will hook you up with an old school Nalgene in bright modern colours. If you need a beautifully designed, well priced, insulated and spill resistant coffee cup, purchase a 350 ml Kinto Travel Tumbler from our online store.
Tech — Ian doesn’t own any wearable technology device. Lauryn has a Garmin Vivo Active 4, and loves tracking the kilometres we all accumulate. Twice a day, totalling five kilometres on a small day, and around ten on a big one, they get out to enjoy fresh air, the seasonal sights, and yes — it’s exercise, and it might just be the cardio routine that is missing in your simple and sustainable wellness pursuits in 2026. The features of your tech wearable allow you to see heart rate variability, your sleep patterns, caloric expenditures, and so much more, perhaps too much. Information is good. Action is better. Wear your technology to keep track and to keep you going, but for us, this is for fun and not only for our fitness.
Watches, rings and gadgety things. Yes — they can give you information but obsessing over your next workout, and lost sleep might make you feel worse. Read about how tech can be both a complicated relationship and a helpful tool for your health and wellness this year
Home equipment — if we can judge a company by their landing page, Amazon is on to something amazing with that picture of the kettlebell. However, instead of a small, light plastic one, invest in a heavy (relatively) steel bell, and another ‘heavier’ steel bell. Many of our workouts use one strength tool at a time, but often the bells for swings and squats may differ from get-ups and presses. Having two bells at the ready is a great strategy to stay strong in regards to both strength and endurance. Ian‘s favourite bells to train with include the 24 kg and the 36 kg. Lauryn, the 16 kg and a new, yet familiar friend, the 20 kg bell. We source and stock them in our online store for local pick up. Order yours today, and one carry, squat or swing at a time — start getting stronger tomorrow.
Active wear — We love our barres and bells t-shirts. Turtles who remind us to embrace the pace, and coffee dudes who enjoy their workout alternating sips and sets. When it comes to active wear tops, we also believe in the basics — cotton is the best. Honestly! It’s old school, it may show your sweat, but it breathes and washes well. Stay tuned this year for our newest Barres and Bells t-shirt and create your own training routine as a few parts art, and elements of the modern science of movement and strength.
We tend to wear our hearts on our sleeves, and our brand on our backs. Leaving the hospital with Teddy back in April, we wore our standard issue gear. As always, this year or next, we are proud and appreciate having you on our B+B team
