Bike + Body Workshop

On the Sunday morning sidewalk, Lauryn turned left heading out for her morning run. With only traces of sunlight coming down, and more rain in the forecast, we were both on our way to the studio. I, for my ten heavy get-ups, our morning sessions, and a workshop with another local business — Speed River Cycle.

The first section of the workshop explored the science of the perfect bike fit for comfort and performance. Thermal images illustrating weight distributions were shown on the screen, and devices to measure both bike and body parts neatly hung on the wall. According to the business owner, and workshop leader Tim — “it starts with the foundation of a solid hip hinge.” We agree.

Recharging with coffee and Lauryn’s homemade carrot muffins, the group enjoyed a quick break, and a short walk to our studio to connect the theory of a good fit, with simple fitness skills.

In our studio, even on a rainy day, the bright windows, decorative accents, and our approach to movement and exercise may feel more like an art, than a science. We do not believe in “good” or “bad”, but rather the assemble of skills that allow  a user to become more aware of the “when” and “where” scenarios to best use them.

This week, train bodyweight, barre, or kettlebell skills to help you find the right fit and balance mobility, strength with the art and science of training your body.

Take care,

Lauryn and Ian
